Course Description: This course introduces the physics, instrumentation, and signal processing methods used in X-ray (projection radiography), X-ray computed tomography, nuclear medicine (SPECT/PET), ultrasound imaging, and magnetic resonance imaging. Co-listed as EL5823 and BE6203. 3 credits.

 

Prerequisites: Multivariable calculus (MA2112, MA2122), physics (PH2004), probability, signals and systems (EE3054, preferred but not required). Open to graduate students and upper level UG students.

Homework policy: Homeworks will be assigned weekly and due the following week. Late submissions are subject to penalty of 10% each week for first two weeks. Later submission after two week will not be accepted.  Solutions will be provided. Exams will be primarily based on homework problems.

Grading Policy:  Exam 1: 40 %, Exam 2: 40%, Homework Assignments (including computer assignment): 20%.
