PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 1990 - Present: On the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY 11201; now Polytechnic School of Engineering of NYU. Full professor since 2000.
  • 1992 - 2000: Part-time consultant in AT&T Labs - Research, Middletown, NJ (formerly Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, NJ)
  • 1998: Sabbatical leave at Princeton University.
  • Summer 1998: Visiting professor, Telecommunications Institute I, University of Erlangen-Nuernberg, Erlangen, Germany.
  • 2004: Sabbatical leave at Thomson Corporate Research Center, Princeton, NJ.

RESEARCH AREAS

  • Image and video compression, image/video transport over noisy channels, multimedia signal processing, medical image processing, image analysis and computer vision, and pattern recognition.
