Elec 630: Multi-User Communications

This is an advanced graduate course on multi-user aspects of the wireless
communication system. We will concentrate on an information theoretic analysis
of multiple user systems as well a communication theory point of view.

535, or an equivalent course on basic concepts of information theory. An introductory
class on digital communications is helpful.
- Requirements: The
course consists of a project and homework assignments. For the project you
will be required to write a proposal and a final report, and make a
presentation on a topic of your choice. You are encouraged to provide your
own topic. Later on in the semester I will have a list of some suggested
topics and references.
- Grading: Project: 60%,
Homework: 30%, Class participation: 10%.
- Course material: The
material will be based on various textbooks and journal articles. I will
hand out these materials when necessary. If you own a copy of Elements
of Information Theory by Cover and Thomas, you might find it helpful
for some of the information theoretic analysis.
