1. GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Top         Index

Computer Engineering is a rapidly growing profession and computer engineers are in the midst of exciting times with unlimited opportunities in all walks of life. For instance, computer engineers interact with and design large supercomputers as well as the ubiquitous personal and portable computers. Furthermore, computer engineers play a key role in networking computers with other computers and intelligent devices. Computer engineers are also involved in projects as varied as design of specialized computer hardware for use in reconstructing the human genome to monitoring and control of industrial plants and the environment, computer graphics, robotics and the design of biomedical devices and computer networks. Finally, computer engineers design and develop hardware and embedded hardware-software systems. This module in computer engineering is designed for working professionals who seek to acquire an in-depth understanding of the field. The program consists of three required courses and two elective courses.

2. GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN IMAGE PROCESSING

Top         Index

Description: Image processing deals with digital image (including video) enhancement, analysis and compression. It is a core technology that enables various multimedia applications, including digital picture capture and editing, digital television, tele-conferencing, video streaming, video archiving and retrieval, and medical imaging. This advanced certificate program is designed for working professionals who seek to acquire an in-depth understanding of various image and video processing algorithms including international standards for image and video coding. The program consists of four required courses and one elective course, each 3 credit. These courses are part of Polytechnic's existing MSEE curriculum. The courses taken can be used towards an MSEE degree if the student so chooses. The program can also be taken by regular MSEE students, who wish to focus on a specialty area beyond satisfying the general requirement for the MSEE.
