LABORATORIES
VLSI Lab
This lab was developed for graduate/undergraduate students who take VLSI courses: EL547
and EL644. It has also been used by graduate students to implement VLSI chips for the
research in high-speed networking and signal processing. Currently, we have 10 workstations
equipped with the state-of-the-art VLSI design tools donated by Mentor Graphics Corp.
High-Speed Networking Lab
This lab provides hand-on opportunity for students to conduct high-speed networking experiments,
such as video conference and multimedia communications. Currently, we have an ATM switch with 8
ports, each input port operating at more than 100 Mbit/s. The switch will be connected to a WAN,
called NYNET, through two optical fibers provided by NYNEX.
