ACADEMIC ADVISING

Academic advising is a critical component for the ECE Student. Advisors do more than just sign off on courses. We take the time to listen, to advise, and most important to remain positive. ECE advising is a partnership between student, university, and ECE advisors.

Your advisor is your primary resource, the best person to explain to you your department's structure, and the best person to help you solve academic problems.

Why you should meet with you advisor:
  • Required to meet each semester for program approval
  • Monitor plan for graduation
  • Understand degree requirements
  • Discuss academic progress
  • Add or drop a course
  • Keep up with what is new in the department
Advisors Responsibilities to students:
  • Listen to students concerns, and refer to recourses when necessary
  • Help to keep the students on track for graduation
  • Provide students with accurate information regarding university, departmental requirements
  • Assist students in meeting time lines
  • Maintain comprehensive and confidential records of advising
  • Try to motivate student to be the best that they can be
Student's responsibility in the advisory partnership:
  • Understand and engage in advisory partnership
  • Meet with the advisor at least once per semester
  • Prepare for advisory appointment by bringing an updated checklist with you
  • Take responsibility for making informed decisions by gleaming facts from the advisor
  • To become knowledgeable about educational plan and goals for graduation and beyond
  • Challenge oneself to do and be the best Polytechnic University student

We are here for you whether you have a specific question or problem.
Our door is always open. We want to help you.
